‘Tis the Season to Check Out These Great Holiday Events in Florida
If you’re still unsure what to do this holiday season — especially if you live in or close to Florida, use this list as inspiration. Here are some of the unique experiences you and your family can share at this time of year.
ICE!
This is a great destination to visit if you have kids (or you are a kid at heart). Located at Gaylord Palms in Lake Buena Vista, this attraction is over 20,000 square feet of beautiful ice sculptures — each of them hand-carved. The ice landscape is filled with intricately designed features, some of them over 15 feet.
You will be so engrossed admiring the place and taking selfies that you’ll barely realize you’re in 9-degree temperature. That’s why shouldn’t forget where the coat and gloves they provided. This winter wonderland is open from November 23 to December 31, 2017.
Winterfest
Pensacola’s Winterfest is one of the most awaited events of the year. It’s a mix of different events, stalls, and performances, so there’s something for everyone. You can take your kids for the Polar Express, invite your friends to the Snowball Derby and take selfies during the Elf Parade. You can even enjoy a cup of hot cocoa with the entire family while you’re at it
The Winterfest started last November 24 and will be open until Christmas Eve, so make sure you drop by before then.
Light Up
If there’s one thing people love about the holiday season, it’s the bright lights that litter almost every home. There’s nothing like seeing it up close though, in a much bigger field. Now, you can do that for free at the University of Central Florida’s arena.
Every year, they decorate the whole place with beautiful, twinkling lights that will really awaken your Christmas spirit. You can come in for the free light show starting November 18, 2017, up until January 7, 2018.
If you’re not one for lights, you can watch films that are featured at their festival or skate — another very Christmas-oriented to-do — at the largest ice skating rink in Orlando. Whether you’re coming with your friends, partner or family, there is something to enjoy the University of Central Florida.
