Spotlight on World of Concrete 2019
World of Concrete’s annual international event was held last week from January 22 to January 25, bringing those in commercial construction and masonry together at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
2019 saw the newest equipment and products on display in the New Product Zone and elsewhere throughout the center’s 745,000 square feet of exhibit space. Everything from heavy-duty machinery and high-efficiency products were featured, many of them entirely new to market or not yet introduced. To this end, ACI Foundation’s Strategic Development Council sponsored the Concrete Start-Up Zone, creating a dedicated space for innovation. More than 1,500 companies showed off their products to 58,000 attendees.
WOC also showcased the latest training and knowledge through seminars and skill-building workshops. Various education areas hosted these forums, emphasizing the WOC’s commitment to industry development and expertise. The event also embodied the MCAA convention, so there was truly something for everybody during the week. And for those who enjoy a bit of friendly competition, there were fun challenges like fastest trowel on the lot or the John Deere operator match. One major highlight came via NASA, with its 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge. Participating teams were on site to discuss their research and development efforts to an appreciative crowd.
